KCCA 3-1 BUL
It was normal programming for KCCA as the 13-time Ugandan champions won their seventh out of eight StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) matches on Wednesday.
BUL were the unfortunate victims to take their turn, the visitors recipients to a 3-1 humbling at the MTN Omondi Stadium.
Innocent wafula, Charles Lwanga and increasingly regular scorer Davis Kasirye netted the goals for KCCA.
Musa Esenu got BUL’s consolation. The win ensured coach Morley Byekwaso’s KCCA kept an arm and leg’s distance from the chasing pack.
At 22 points from a possible 24, KCCA lead second-placed Vipers by six, although the Kasasiro Boys have played one more game than the Venoms.
BUL drop down to fifth on 14 points from eight games.
KCCA did not, however, have it on a silver platter.
The hosts did not go ahead until the added minute of the first half – Wafula breaking the deadlock with a powerful drive from outside the 18-yard area.
BUL got a chance to level on 68 minutes but Joseph Ssemujju skied his effort from the spot kick after the referee had awarded the guests a penalty for a shirt-pull on the taker.
The visitors were made to pay for that miss, Lwanga – who came on for Sadat Anaku moments before the penalty incident, making it 2-0 for the hosts 13 minutes from full time.
Kasirye, getting his fifth goal of the season, then put it beyond BUL with KCCA’s third 10 minutes from full time.
Esenu did pull one back for BUL on 84 minutes but it was a little too late for any fightback as KCCA continued their steady march.
