Busoga United 1-0 Express

UPDF 1-1 Vipers

Express and Vipers both dropped points on Friday as Busoga United won their tie to move out of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) relegation zone.

The Red Eagles started their journey without sacked coach Wasswa Bbosa with a 1-0 defeat to Busoga while Vipers needed a late Paul Mucurezi goal to earn a point at UPDF.

Paul Ssekulima scored the game’s only goal at Kakindu Stadium for Busoga to climb from the bottom two of the log to 13th position.

This was the first game Express were playing under James Odoch.

Odoch replaced Bbosa, who was sacked early this week, as interim coach until end of the season.

Defeat meant the reigning champions missed the chance to reduce on the gap on the leading pack.

The Red Eagles stayed fifth on the log with 29 points while Busoga have 17.

Express are now without a win in four successive league games, where they have drawn three others.

Elsewhere, UPDF and Vipers played out a one-all draw at Bombo Military Barracks Playground.

Mucureezi had to come off the bench to score from a freekick to earn Vipers a point.

Ivan Ahimbisiwe’s first-half penalty had threatened to condemn Vipers to defeat.

But the Venoms rallied to claim one and move to 40 points at the top of the league. UPDF are eighth on 22 points.
