Busoga edge URA to survive drop

Saturday result

URA 2-3 Busoga United

Two certainties were confirmed in a thriller between visitors Busoga United and URA at the Arena of Visions on Saturday as the hosts lost the game.

Busoga beat URA 3-2 to stamp their stay in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL).

The result also meant that URA cannot finish second even if they won their final game of the season next weekend.

URA sit third on 52 points, four behind second placed KCCA and one ahead of BUL and Arua Hill with a game left to play.

It was Pilsner Man of the Match Anwar Ntege that opened the floodgates, putting the visitors ahead on 14 minutes via a penalty spot.

But Patrick Mbowa drew URA level five minutes to half time before the hosts led for the first time in the match through a Cromwell Rwothomio goal on 49 minutes.

But survival for Busoga was at stake, here, and the visitors rallied back to level matters five minutes to the hour through Dickson Niwamanya.

The stage was now set to Paul Ssekulima to grab the headlines with the winner 17 minutes from full time.
