Busoga edge Wakiso in five-goal thriller

Friday result

Wakiso Giants 2-3 Busoga United

Busoga United won only their third match of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League season by beating Wakiso Giants 3-2 in a five-goal thriller on Friday.

Pilsner Man of the Match Tibiita Laban was the difference, hitting a brace for the visitors and Peter Onzima getting the other goal for Busoga.

Ibrahim Kasule and Shariph Kimbowa scored Wakiso’s goals but they were not enough as Busoga prevailed.

Busoga move to only six points from 11 matches and remain second from bottom on six points on a 15-team log.

Wakiso remain fourth after their third defeat in 12 matches.

At 21 points, the Purple Sharks trail leaders KCCA by only four. KCCA have, however, played one match fewer.

It is the visitors, Busoga, that drew first blood in Wakiso, Onzima scoring on 21 minutes.

Wakiso star man, Kasule, levelled for the hosts on 57 minutes before Kimbowa scored after the hour to pull away at 2-1.

But Busoga drew level on 77 minutes through Laban before the forward completed the comeback with his second and third for Wakiso in injury time.
