Busoga electrocute Vipers as Gaddafi tax URA

Selected Tuesday results

Gaddafi 2-1 URA

Busoga United 1-0 Vipers SC

Tuesday saw some of the most interesting shocks in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League as all the top three teams in action on the day failed to win.

Soltilo Bright Stars beat leaders KCCA 1-0 in Kavumba as Wakiso Giants drew one-all at home to Arua Hill. Defending champions Vipers SC got stung by bottom two side Busoga United.

Busoga’s Ibrahim Kayiwa was the match winner at the Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru, as his side edged Vipers 1-0.

The forward scored in the first minute of added time for Busoga to pick only their fourth win in 14 matches.

Their win, also Vipers’ third defeat in 14 games, saw the latter fluff an opportunity to overtake KCCA and end the first round top of the table. Vipers finish the first round second on 27 points, two behind KCCA.

In Jinja, hosts Gaddafi saw off struggling URA 2-1 courtesy of an Andrew Waiswa first half penalty and Mahad Yahaya Kazooza goal.

George Ssenkaaba did pull one back for URA four minutes from full time but it was a little too late as Gaddafi held on for all three points.

This was Gaddafi’s sixth win in 14 matches, seeing them end the first round seventh on 21 points. URA end their first round four places below in 11th on 14 points from as many games.
