Busoga, Gaddafi escape with point apiece

Wednesday results

Soltilo Bright Stars 1-1 Busoga United

Arua Hill 1-1 Gaddafi

The final two rounds of match day 24 of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) failed to produce winners on Wednesday.

Both games involving Soltilo Bright Stars at home to Busoga United and Gaddafi away to Arua Hill ended in 1-1 draws as the league heads for the final run-in.

Bright Stars thought they had victory within their grasp after going ahead through Joseph Janjali but Anwar Ntege intervened for Busoga to leave with a point.

The draw left Bright Stars third from bottom with just 21 points after 23 games while Busoga United are 10th with five more having played a game more.

In West Nile, visitors Gaddafi left with a point after forcing a 1-1 draw at Arua Hill.

Defender Jamaldin Buchochera scored deep into injury time to deny the Kongolo maximum points.

Bright Vuni had earlier put the home side ahead, nodding home Gaddafi Wahab’s delivery from a corner kick in the 36th minute.

The result leaves Arua Hill, who are enjoying a brilliant debut season in top-flight football, in fifth place with 39 points.

On their part, Gaddafi remain in eighth place with 28 points from 24 games.
