Busoga United 2-1 KCCA
Busoga United summoned KCCA back from a temporary heaven they momentarily enjoyed two weeks ago by beating the 13-time champions in a StarTimes Uganda Premier League match played on Friday.
The eastern side dismissed new head coach Abdallah Mubiru and his KCCA 2-1 at the Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru after the heavy rain that had threatened the match subsided.
Ronald Kasamba and Emmanuel Ajo scored Busoga’s goals while Dominic Ayella’s match opener could only turn out for KCCA’s consolation.
KCCA came into this one with new boss, Mubiru, looking to build onto their last impressive 3-1 thrashing of Vipers, which was orchestrated by interim coach Jackson Magera.
And they looked like they had turned the page when Ayella put them ahead on 27 minutes.
A long ball from the right was headed down by a Busoga defender under pressure from Etienne Katenga of KCCA.
Ayella seized it just on the edge of the 18-yard box, shook off an opponent and deliciously curled it in off the upright for a 1-0 KCCA lead.
But the lead lasted only for four minutes. Busoga got a corner and some Sunday league defending from KCCA saw Katamba smuggle the ball in from just next the goalline to make it 1-1.
Busoga completed the comeback 11 minutes from full time when Pilsner Man of the Match, Isaac Isinde, crafted for Ajo to finish the job.
Busoga, who started this season as one of the favourites for a relegation fight, have now won three matches in eight.
This latest one moves them four places up to ninth on 10 points, eight from the top.
KCCA, who started the season as title favourites alongside defending champions, Vipers, are instead second from bottom but level on four points with basement side, Arua Hill.
