Busoga, Kyetume share spoils

Friday result

Busoga 1-1 Kyetume

Busoga United missed the chance to earn their maiden victory of the season but will at least count the point following a 1-1 goal draw with Kyetume.

The Jinja side had lost their two opening games of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) and could not afford another defeat on Friday.

Indeed, they turned up a different team at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru, putting in a much improved performance.

Isma Mugulusi fired the hosts ahead six minutes after restart, finishing off a swift swift counter attack.

But a defensive lapse eleven minutes later denied them their first win of the season.

Busoga’s Franco Balabala handled inside the forbidden area for the referee to point to the penalty spot.

Mustapha Mujjuzi stepped forward to send Busoga goalkeeper Ali Kimera the wrong way for the equaliser.

Striker Anthony Mayanja should have won it for Busoga in the 86th minute but failed to beat an advancing Joel Mutakubwa in Kyetume’s goal.

The result moves Busoga to one point and Kyetume to three, following the latter’s three successive draws.
