Express 1-2 Busoga United
Busoga United subjected Express to their third home defeat of the season while claiming their own fifth victory in the 2-1 win on a soggy Wankulukuku surface on Tuesday.
The visitors were celebrating their 100th top-flight match since earning promotion in 2015-16 season, with forwards Joel Madondo and Boban Zirintusa assisting each other’s goals in the 15th and 50th minutes.
Express had briefly levelled from a penalty spot converted by striker Frank Kalanda but could not hold off Busoga’s firepower throughout.
Victory moved Busoga to fourth on 16 points, eight behind leaders Vipers and six ahead of 12th placed Express.
Both Busoga coach Abbey Kikomeko and Express’George Ssimwogerere decried the poor pitch conditions, with the former calling it a “kraal” and the latter “”terrible”.
“We wanted to sum it up with a win and we got it,” said Kikomeko, “It gives us a good motivation as we take on Vipers in the next game.”
Ssimwogerere, said “My boys tried to play but the pitch was terrible. We will do better.”
