10-man Busoga shoot down newcomers Gaddafi

Ten-man Busoga United put aside administration and welfare struggles that characterized their last season to kick off this one with a bang.

They were 2-0 winners over StarTimes Uganda Premier League)SUPL) newcomers, Gaddafi FC, in a game played in Jinja on Monday with a sizeable crowd watching.

Elvis Ngonde and Anwar Ntege scored the goals as Busoga joined KCCA, Vipers, Arua Hill and Mbarara City as teams to have won on their opening day of the 2021/22 season.

The two teams held each other for the first half of the game.

But Busoga soon broke Gaddafi’s back on 51 minutes when Pilsner Man of the Match, Ntege, teed on Ngonde for the opener.

Creator then became scorer two minutes later, Ntege feeding off Shaka Ssozi’s pass to snuff out any more resistance from the newcomers.

The only undoing for Busoga was scorer Ngonde turning villain as he was showed marching orders for unsportsmanship by referee George Olemu with four minutes to play.

The league continues on Tuesday with URA and Tooro United facing off.
