In a bid to boost communication prior to the Azam Uganda Premier League matches, the Uganda Premier League board as promised has initiated pre-match press conferences.

The maiden joint  pre-match press conference has been held at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on the morning of Thursday, 3rd March 2016.

UPL Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bernard Bainamani told the media that these press conferences will be maintained in order to ensure a smooth flow of information

We shall be having regular press conferences of this nature. starting at 10 a.m till 11 am on the match eve.

Some of the coaches who attended the maiden pre-match press conference included; Charles Lukula (Soana FC.), Angelo Lonyesi (Police F.C), Abdu Samadu Musafiri (Sadolin Paints F.C), Wasswa Bbosa (Express F.C), Sadiq Wassa (URA F.C) and Joseph Mutyaba (Lweza F.C).

‘This is a great initiative that UPL has started. It should be maintained because it will help provide positive insights prior to matches’ Lonyesi told the media.

At the press conference, the coaches some of whom were accompanied by their respective captains gave hints about their teams preparations, injury updates and expectations towards the matches.

Lweza’s Ibrahim Kiyemba, Hamis Kitagenda (Soana) and Vincent Kayizzi Walugembe (Express) were some of the players’ representatives at the media briefing.

The joint press conference comes at a time there will be eight league matches coming up.

First, there will be Police F.C entertaining SCVU at Kavumba recreational stadium in Friday’s only game on the rooster.

The other seven games will be played on Saturday, 5th March 2016.
