Uganda Cranes became the first team to officially exit the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations after losing two successive group D matches.On Saturday, the Cranes lost 1-0 to Egypt at Stade de Port Gentil with a late strike from El Said giving the Pharaohs their first maximum points of the tournament.

The loss came at the back of another loss to Ghana on Tuesday and the Cranes remain the only team in the tournament minus a point and goal with just one round of group matches to play.

From group D, Ghana is already through to the quarter finals and will be joined by either Hector Cuper’s Egypt or Alain Giresse’s Mali depending on the results from the Wednesday matches.

So far, three Azam Uganda Premier League Joseph Ochaya (KCCA), Muhammad Shaban (Onduparaka) and Nicholas Wadada (Vipers) have featured at the tournament.

Uganda takes on Mali in the last group match in Oyem while Egypt play Ghana in Port Gentil.
