Zambia 1-1 Namibia
Uganda and Cote D’Ivoire played to a goalless draw in the final Group B match played at Marrakech Stadium on Monday night for the Cranes to finish third in the pool.
The result had no bearing regarding Uganda’s stay in Morocco as both teams came into this match eliminated.
Zambia and Namibia, the two teams to progress to the last eight of the 2018 African Nations Championship (Chan), also played to a one-all draw.
Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre made two changes from the previous line up that lost 1-0 to Namibia, with Aggrey Madoi and Musitafa Mujjuzi the new players introduced.
The Cranes created a couple of chances which fell to Sadam Ibrahim Juma, Milton Karisa, Allan Kyambadde, and second half substitute Muzamiru Mutyaba but could not have a breakthrough.
Only two substitutions were made for Uganda, Mutyaba replacing Kyambadde with 30 minutes left and Nelson Senkatuka coming on for Derrick Nsibambi, the scorer of Uganda’s only goal at the tournament.
Zambia and Namibia finished with seven points apiece while Uganda and Ivory Coast ended with one each. The Cranes finished third thanks to a better goal advantage.
