Saturday October 13
- Uganda Vs Lesotho – Mandela National stadium, Namboole 4pm
Sebastien Desabre believes the Uganda Cranes will pick vital maximum points off Lesotho to keep their hopes of a slot at the 2019 Afcon finals alive.
The two nations face off at Namboole on Saturday with either seeking a decent result after unpleasing results in the previous outings.
Desabre, a replacement for Micho back in December last year hasn’t won a competitive game as the Cranes Head Coach but is optimistic the game against Lesotho proves a good chance to end the jinx.
“This game against Lesotho is an important one for qualification for Uganda Cranes to the Africa Cup of Nations,” he told the media “The team is in good spirits. I have spoken to players and they understand the importance of this game,” he added.
“We have improved upon the level of confidence for the players. The three points will be crucial for the home fans and country as well. It is important to play good football as well. I am happy with the camp. We are ready.
Cranes fall into second place following Cape Verde’s 3-0 win over Tanzania but a win will see them reclaim top spot midway the campaign.
The last meeting between Cranes and Lesotho Crocodiles in 2007 ended in a goalless draw in Maseru but Uganda won 3-0 in Kampala a year before in the 2008 Afcon qualifiers.
