Sunday Cecafa result
Uganda 1-1 Ethiopia
Uganda flirted with Cecafa elimination in Kakamega, Kenya until KCCA striker Derrick Nsibambi tapped in a late equaliser from Allan Kateregga’s freekick.
The game that ended 1-1 on Sunday also saw defenders Isaac Muleme and Timothy Awany see red for the Cranes to end the match two men fewer.
Coach Moses Basena’s Uganda garnered five points from three games to progress to the last four.
St George star Abdela Abubaker San had put Ethiopians ahead on 21 minutes with a rebounding shot that left Ugandan goalkeeper Ismail Watenga for perplexed.
The Ethiopians were generally the better side and had several chances to win the contest. Uganda, the 14-time record winners, are likely to face hosts Kenya in the semis.
