A total of 27 players on Monday December 19 started preparations for the Africa Nations Cup finals in Gabon next year.

The squad, under the watchful eye of national team tactician Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic and goalkeeping coach Fred Kajoba among other technical staff started with aerobic drills at Paradise Fitness Gym at Acacia, Bukoto and later ball work session at Kabira Country Club.

Besides club-less Isaac Isinde, Swedish based defender Ronald Mukiibi, Denis Guma from Lebanon side Al Ahed plus Kenya based Shafik Batambuze (Tusker) and Godfrey Walusimbi (Gor Mahia), the rest of the players in attendance were from the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL).

“It is good enough we have started early enough. It is so early to impress,” noted the head coach, Milutin Sredojević.

“The good thing all the players in the country (except two) we expected reported for training,” he added.

Former Masaka LC midfielder Tonny Mawejje and Simba’s Murushid Jjuuko were the only players in the country that didn’t take part of day one training.

The team will reside at Serene Suites, Mutundwe and will only break off for Christmas on December 25.
