Kuwait 0-2 Uganda
StarTimes Uganda Premier League stars Ronald Ssekiganda and second half substitute Alex Kitata were on target as Uganda Cranes beat Kuwait 2-0 in a friendly played in Cairo, Egypt on Friday.
SC Villa midfielder, Ssekiganda, tucked the ball home from close range after Kuwait failed to clear a corner out of danger 10 minutes into the game.
BUL striker Kitata’s goal was a header after a scintillating solo run by SC Villa captain Kenneth Ssemakula five minutes from full time.
Cranes Belgian coach Paul Put made changes on 63 minutes, bringing on Big League side MYDA’s Allan Oyirwoth and Villa’s Patrick Kakande for URA’s Laban Tibiita and Arafat Kizza Usama of KCCA respectively.
Soltilo Bright Stars captain and league’s top scorer with 10 goals half-way the season, Nelson Senkatuka, soon joined the fray, replacing KCCA forward Muhammad Shaban.
It was clear Put wanted to give everyone a chance to impress as he further threw on BUL attacker Kitata and KCCA’s Ashraf Mugume for Kitara striker Denis Omedi and Express midfielder Ramz Kawooya eight minutes from full time.
After just three minutes on the pitch, Kitata – who has eight goals in the league – headed home Uganda’s second after a fantastic run by Villa defensive stalwart, Ssemakula, whose initial strike crashed off the cross bar.
Uganda will take confidence from this friendly as they continue preparations for their June World Cup qualifier against Botswana.
