First leg result
URA 0-0 Al Masry (Egypt)
A depleted URA side battled to a goalless draw against Egyptian opposition, Al Masry SC, on Saturday without 13 of their players after they tested positive for Coronavirus.
The first leg of this Caf Confederation Cup fixture played at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende leaves the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) side in a fairly good place.
The Tax Collectors need just a scoring draw in Cairo in a week’s time to advance to the next round.
The club confirmed through their official social media platforms that a number of their players and officials had returned positive Covid-19 tests a few moments to the game.
Thirteen was the number, most of them influential to URA’s cause in attack.
Notable absentees in attack included Viane Sekajugo, Steven Mukwala and compatriot Cromwell Rwothomio.
By the time the South Sudanese referee Ring Nyier Akech Malong started the game, URA had only four substitutes on the bench.
These excluded any of the goalkeepers. Only Mikidadi Ssenyonga, Benjamin Nyakoojo, Arafat Galiwango and Faruku Katongole made the home side’s bench while captain Shafik Kagimu was among those cancelled off the matchday squad sheet.
Other absentees included Brian Nkuubi, Steven Mpoza, Muhammad Lubega, Ibrahim Dada, Andrew Okiring Isiagi, Simon Baligeya, Moses Sseruyidde, Living Kabon and Julius Mutyaba.
