Depleted Wakiso Giants lock horns with UPDF

Wakiso Giants will miss services of several key players when they resume the hunt for the first win in the second round of the Premier League.

According to the club media, Apollo Kagogwe (dislocated arm), Shariph Kimbowa, Moses Aliro, Norman Ojik, Ramadhan Ogene and Mikdad Ssenyonga are absent through injury while Ronald Madoi, Jerome Wamusi and Marvin Mukiibi are with their schools in the post-primary football competitions.

Midfielder Tom Masiko admits the absentees will be missed but the available players must do the job.

“It’s absurd that we are going to miss several of our teammates but the onus is on us the available players to do the job, win and bring the pride of the club back on track.”

UPDF have defender Moses Kiggundu suspended after he was sent off in the last game against Soltilo Bright Stars and will miss out but are buoyed by the return of Rogers Mugisha from national duty.

They come into the game in buoyant mood after beating Bright Stars 1-0 in their last outing but have not won an away game this season picking just two points on the road.

In the five premier league meetings, Wakiso Giants boosts a better record with four wins and only one draw.

The reverse fixture was decided by Moses Aliro’s first half strike.
