Uganda Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre is hugely impressed by the impact local based players are having on the national team.
KCCA and StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) star Patrick Kaddu scored the only goal as the Cranes beat Cape Verde to qualify for the 2019 Afcon finals.
The Cranes qualified for Cameroon 2019 Afcon with a match to spare, the first time it is happening.
Two UPL players in goal scorer Kaddu and Vipers midfielder Moses Waiswa started the match.
“I am happy with the quality of players on the team from the Uganda Premier League,” said Desabre.
“There are so many talented players in the league. A good number of them in the U-23 and U-20 teams doing good work. I liked the fighting spirit from the players.”
Two other KCCA players in Allan Kyambadde and defender Timothy Awany were second half substitutes.
Awany helped preserve the clean sheet while Kyambadde set up left back Godfrey Walusimbi to cross for Kaddu’s winner.
