Drama in title run-in

Friday results

URA 2-1 KCCA

Maroons 1-1 Tooro United

Friday brought the newest in the ever changing twists of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL).

Vipers SC’s goalless draw in Mbarara early in the week had allowed KCCA, who had beaten Kyetume 2-0, to close the gap on the leaders to just two points.

With Vipers out of action on Friday, it was now KCCA’s turn to leapfrog the pace setters.

But that was not to be as URA dramatically edged KCCA 2-1 at the Arena of Visions.

Cromwell Rothwomio and Saidi Kyeyune scored late in the game as the Kasasiro Boys suffered their fifth defeat of the campaign.

Herbert Achai scored KCCA’s consolation. URA dislodged Onduparaka to go fourth with 33 points, same as third placed SC Villa but with an inferior goal difference.

KCCA remain second on 41 points, with Vipers on 43 and a game in hand.

Elsewhere, James Kasibante’s 43rd minute equaliser earned Tooro United a point at Maroons after Steve Mukwala had put the hosts ahead on five minutes.
