Express, BUL post wins

Selected Tuesday results

Police 1-2 Express

BUL 1-0 Mbarara City

StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) defending champions Express seem to be slowly getting back their footing after a false start to the season.

The Red Eagles battled to their second win of the campaign in five matches, edging Police 2-1 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Tuesday.

Right-back Deus Bukenya’s powerful drive from a free-kick outside the box wildly flew past Police goalkeeper Abdul Kimera on 12 minutes to set the stage for coach  Bbosa’s side.

Police responded on 32 minutes, Juma Balinya’s long range effort beating Express goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa.

Police looked like they could earn their first point in five matches here, but with the clock winding down, new signing Joseph Akandanwaho headed into fellow substitute George Ssenkaaba’s path and the latter made no mistake, scoring the winner on 90 minutes.

Express are now fifth on seven points, six behind leaders KCCA, while winless Police remain rooted at the bottom of the 16-team log with no points.

In Jinja, BUL continued their promising start to the campaign, beating Mbarara City 1-0 to keep up with the big boys Vipers and KCCA in third on nine points.

Ibrahim Nsimbe’s 65th minute goal decided that one for BUL. Mbarara are also not doing shabbily, lying three places below BUL on six points.
