Mbarara 2-3 Express
Express edged a pulsating five-goal thriller against Mbarara at Maroons Stadium on Tuesday to earn their first win of the season.
The result helped ease the pressure on coach George Ssimwogerere who has been under heavy criticism after losing two and drawing the other in their opening three games.
But after a poor showing in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Onduparaka, they showed character here.
The Red Eagles had to come from a goal down after Hillary Mukundane had given Mbarara the lead from a freekick two minutes before half time.
Hamdan Nsubuga was the man who started the revival with the equaliser before Frank Kalanda put the Red Eagles ahead on 65 minutes.
Jude Ssemugabi then looked to have stolen a point for Mbarara, who have now lost twice in succession, Daniel Shabena’s stoppage time strike turned the winner.
