- Express 1-0 Nyasa Big Bullets
Express FC ended their CECAFA Kagame Cup jinx after beating Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets 1-0 at the National stadium, Dar es Salaam.
Martin Kizza scored the winning goal in the first half to hand the Red Eagles their first ever triumph in the regional tournament.
The Uganda Premier League champions had lost their previous two finals in 1994 and 1995 and were playing in their third final.
Their triumph makes them the fourth Ugandan side to lift the Kagame Cup after SC Villa (1987, 2003 and 2005), KCCA (1978 and 2019) and Police (2006).
Wasswa Bbosa’s side will now turn focus to the Stanbic Uganda Cup and the Caf Champions League.
On top of the trophy, Express pockets $ 30,000 as Prize Money and Fufa will also give them a winning bonus of $ 25,000.
