Express has been fined Ugx. 1 million for hiding match balls in their 2-0 win over Mbarara City at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

The decision of the FUFA Disciplinary committee stems from match no 187 played on April 11, 2018.

“The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel (CDP) received a petition from the AUPL secretariat and sat on 19th April 2018 to handle the matter……,” read part of the verdict signed by Deo Mutabazi, the CEO Disciplinary Committee.

“According to the reports of both the referee and the match assessor reports, in the 78th minutes Express FC hid the match balls and recalled the ball boys,” it went on.

This act contravened Article 16.9 of the Uganda Premier League rules 2017118 and also goes against Article 30.2 of the FUFA Competitions rules 2017118. Accordingly Express FC is fined 1,000,000 shs (One million shillings).

The CDP may revise this fine amount upwards if not paid by 26’n April 2018. This decision takes immediate effect.

Express, six time league champions but now fighting for survival in the division have a right to appeal the decision.
