Godfrey Lwesibawa scored a hat trick while Eric Kambale scored the other as Express thrashed hosts Busoga United 4-0 to go top of the table.

The forward scored the opener in the 20th minute and added the other seven minutes later to take a 2-0 half time lead.

He completed his hattrick six minutes after the break before on form Kambale put the icing on the cake with a fourth in the 67th minute.

The result coupled with Vipers’ 3-2 defeat at the hands of Mbarara City means the Red Eagles are now top of the standings on 54 points with five matches to play.

Busoga United stay 13th on the log with 26 points, six ahead of the relegation zone.

In other games, Bul fell 2-1 to on form Wakiso Giants with Abdul Kimera (own goal) and Viane Ssekajugo scoring for the Giants while Joseph Ssemujju scored the visitors’ consolation.

MYDA were beaten 3-1 at Kitara thanks to goals from Isaac Tumusiime (brace) and Stewart Mwesigwa before Peter Mutebi pulled one back for the visitors in Masindi.

The two stay bottom of the league with Kitara at the base with 13 points, one point and place below MYDA.

Elsewhere, Onduparaka were held to a goalless draw by visiting Bright Stars to remain 11th with 28 points while Stars are now 5th with 42 points.
