Express 3-1 URA

Ten-man Express kicked off their second round of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) with a big 3-1 victory over title contenders URA at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Saturday.

A double from forward Eric Kambale – his second strike a penalty, and a goal by Godfrey Lwesibawa saw the home side, who had defender Murushid Juuko sent off early in the second half, take a resounding 3-0 half time lead.

Steven Mukwala scored URA’s consolation from a penalty spot on 58 minutes as the taxmen lost only their second game of the season.

Victory saw Express close the gap on leaders Vipers SC and URA to just one point. The Red Eagles have 35 points from 16 games, with the top three having all played the same number of matches.

Elsewhere, coach Abdallah Mubiru’s Police made light work of Kyetume, thrashing them 3-0 at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru.

Hassan Muhamood opened the scoring for Police on 11 minutes before second half goals from strikers Ben Ocen and Brian Mululi added gloss to Police’s eighth victory of the season.

Police’s win sees them dislodge SC Villa from the fifth spot on goal difference. Both have 28 points. Kyetume’s eighth defeat of the campaign has them third from bottom on 12 points.
