- Uganda Cup 2ndleg
- Express FC Vs KCCA FC – Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku @ 4pm
- [KCCA won first leg 3-2]
All roads lead to Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku where Express host KCCA in the final leg of the 2017 Uganda Cup semi-finals.
With a 3-2 loss for the hosts in the first leg four days ago, the Red Eagles need to win by at least 1-0 to advance to their first final in 10 years.
Matia Lule’s charges, record cup holders with 10 times haven’t played in the finals since 2007 when they beat KCCA 4-2 in the penalties following a goalless stalemate.
But they will need more than history if they are to overcome arguably the best side in the previous two seasons.
Lule, who saw his side score two away goals on Friday says the team is set and ready for the game but has called upon fans to come cheer the team.
“The team is set. We are ready for the game,” said Lule. “We lost the game on Tuesday and the target now is to win with a margin that will take us to the finals,” he added.
In a game of football, a fan is player number 12th. We plead to them (our fans) to come in big numbers, cheer us and we promise to offer our best.
His opposite number, Mike Mutebi says his only wary is the defensive organisation of the hosts who he described as the most defensively organised side in the country.
“We are playing a very very organised side defensively with good players,” said Mutebi. “I think of all sides in the country, they are the most organised side defensively and our work will be to try disorganize them,” he added.
The tactician, who is on course to become the first tactician to win a double for the Kasasiro says the first 15 minutes of the game, will be key for his side.
The first 15 minutes, we must be orderly but that doesn’t divorce us from the way we want to play. We shall go there, try to attack and get a good result.
Long term injured Vincent Onyebuchi is joined on the sidelines by skipper Musa Mukasa who is suspended for the hosts whilst KCCA have no defender Timothy Awany (injured) but have midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba back in contention.
KCCA haven’t lost to Express in the previous five outings and need a draw to set up a date with Paidha Black Angels for the June 10, 2017 final in Arua.
