Express miss chance to capitalise

Selected Saturday results

Wakiso 0-1 Busoga

Kyetume 0-0 Express

Bul 3-2 Kitara

Mbarara City 0-1 Soltilo Bright Stars

Express could have taken advantage of Vipers SC’s collapse at the hands of latest StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) leaders, URA, but the Red Eagles could only settle for a draw at Kyetume.

URA had secured their place on the leaderboard, thanks to a 2-1 victory of hitherto toppers Vipers, in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

And coach Wasswa Bbosa’s Express could have gone second and reduced URA’s lead to just two, with victory.

But Kyetume’s resoluteness in front of their goal meant third-placed Express moved just to 29 points, one and four behind Vipers and URA respectively.

At Wakisha Stadium, visitors Busoga picked only their second three points of the season thanks to Sharif Kimbowa’s 69th minute winning goal in the victory over Wakiso Giants.

The Busoga side, however, remain third from bottom with 11 points from 14 games.

Wakiso are three places above with 15 points.

Busoga’s Jinja rivals, Bul, and Kitara served us the day’s thriller, the former edging it 3-2.

Deogratius Ojok netted a brace for Bul, including a winning penalty. Oketch Simon Peter got the other.

Edison Agondeze and Monday Denis, also off a penalty spot, got Kitara’s goals.

The victory has Bul in ninth on 19 points, while Kitara remain in the bottom two on five.

Elsewhere, Joseph Akandwanaho scored the winner as Soltilo Bright Stars beat hosts Mbarara City 1-0.

Bright Stars now lie 10th on 17 points, while Mbarara are two below on 13.
