Busoga United 0-2 Express
Soltilo Bright Stars 1-1 URA
Express are off the mark after beating Busoga United 2-0 at the Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru on Thursday.
Last season’s top scorer, Allan Kayiwa, scored his and the Red Eagles’ first StarTimes Uganda Premier League goal of the season, with a Stephen Odongo own goal sealing victory for Express.
Express now move up to seventh on four points from two matches, while Busoga are a place and point below them after three games.
Kayiwa, who scored 13 goals last season, put the visitors ahead from the penalty spot on 16 minutes after Pilsner Man of the Match Isaac Wagoina was fouled in the area.
Busoga’s Odongo then added misery to home side’s struggles when he scored an unfortunate own goal with 19 minutes left to play.
In Kavumba, Soltilo Bright Stars striker Nelson Senkatuuka scored on 78 minutes to deny URA victory and earn the home side a point.
The four-time league winners, URA, took the lead through new signing Ivan Ahimbisibwe on 19 minutes but Senkatuuka had other ideas.
This was URA’s second draw in three matches and leaves them in fifth place, while Bright Stars, who are winless with two draws in three games, are four places below in ninth.
