Express 1-0 URA

Express picked their first StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) win of the 2022/23 season with Allan Kayiwa getting the crucial goal in the 1-0 victory over URA at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku on Saturday.

The win lifts the Red Eagles, who drew 1-1 their opening game away to UPDF, up to fourth place on four points, two behind leaders BUL.

Express and URA, who themselves fired blanks in their opening match of the season against Onduparaka, drew both their two encounters last season.

But there was no letting up for the red Eagles here, Kayiwa brilliantly executing a second half free kick.

The goal arrived inside three minutes into the second half following bad play on Express forward Anwar Ntege by Benjamin Nyakoojo.

It could actually have been worse for the Tax Collectors but Ntege failed to take full advantage when through with the visitors goalkeeper to beat later on.

Express next face crosstown rivals SC Villa on October 14 while URA travel to Busoga United four days later.
