SUPL Saturday result
Express 3-0 Proline
Six-time league champions, Express, finally picked their first win of the year as they beat Proline 3-0 at Kavumba Recreation Ground on Saturday.
A Dennis Serukwaya eighth minute penalty and Ivan Ocholit second half strike helped the Red Eagles momentarily emerge from a hole they started the New Year in. Arnold Sserunjoji’s own goal counted for the third.
Yet, the big tribute was reserved for the Red Eagles goalkeeper ,Matthias Muwanga, who saved everything thrown at him by Proline. He was fittingly named the Pilsner Man of the Match.
Express had lost all their two second round games in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) to Busoga United (1-0) and Police (6-1).
With fan pressure intensifying, coach George Ssimwogerere’s men could not sink any lower.
They had to react, and react they did. The Red Eagles are now 11th on 21 points, while Proline remain at the basement of the 16-team table on 12.
