StarTimes Uganda Premier League
Express 1-0 Busoga United
Myda 2-2 Kitara
KCCA 6-1 UPDF
URA 2-0 Kyetume
Frank Kalanda’s penalty was enough to send Express back to the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) following their 1-0 victory over Busoga United at Wankulukuku on Friday.
Defending champions Vipers had on Wednesday wrested back table leadership from the Red Eagles with their 2-0 victory over Soltilo Bright Stars.
But Express win over Busoga, the Red Eagles eighth in 12 games, moved them back to the top on 28 points, one more than Vipers, who have played a game fewer.
But it is at Phillip Omondi Stadium at Lugogo where KCCA lit fireworks, manager Mike Mutebi’s men continuing their impressive resurgence with a 6-1 hiding of UPDF.
Braces from Sadat Anaku, who was following his hat-trick against Busoga in their previous game, and Charles Lwanga had the home side coasting to victory.
UPDF’s Bright Vuni was unfortunate to put into his own net after Anaku’s fourth minute game opener.
Ashraf Mugume made it 3-0 inside the first quarter of the game before Lwanga, who also scored against Busoga, for KCCA’s fourth on 22 minutes.
Lwanga completed his brace on 67 minutes before Anaku did the same seven minutes later.
UPDF talisman Brian Kayanja for the army side’s consolation goal on 41 minutes.
Victory saw KCCA go to 23 points in fourth, while URA – who beat Kyetume 2-0, are just above them with four points more.
Cromwel Rwothomio and Steven Mukwala scored for URA.
Elsewhere, bottom sides Myda and Kitara settled for 2-2 draw in Tororo.
Zakayo Kizito and Oloro Nathan scored Kitara’s goals while Ibra Nsimbe and Moses Butali netted for Myda.
