Bul 0-1 Express
Arua Hill 0-0 Onduparaka
StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) defending champions, Express, finally picked their first win of the season as they edged a hard-battling Bul at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe 1-0 on Tuesday.
Mahad Yaya Kazooza scored the Red Eagles only goal of the season in three matches as coach Wasswa Bbosa served out his penultimate match suspension.
The three points have Express 10th on the 16-team log, while Bul are just above them on goal difference.
Kakooza headed home from a perfect cross by Martin Kizza in a game Express’ Abel Eturudde’s Man of the Match performance earned him the Pilsner gong.
Bul almost squeezed out a point late on but substitute Dickson Nuwamanya’s freekick hit the woodwork with the clock fast ticking down.
Elsewhere, the highly-billed West Nile derby between league newcomers Arua Hill and the old boys of the area, Onduparaka, ended in a goalless stalemate.
In Fort Portal, league returnees and newcomers Tooro United and Gaddafi respectively settled for a 1-1 draw.
Tooro were gunning for a second successive win at Buhinga Stadium but it is Gaddafi who took the lead through striker Joel Madondo on 27 minutes.
But like he did in Tooro’s 1-0 win over Mbarara City last week, Marvin Oshaba scored the hosts equaliser – this time from a penalty spot – with about a quarter of an hour to play.
Tooro are fifth on four points while Gaddafi, who are yet to win a game, are 12th on one.
