Last Saturday, the country witnessed a dramatic end to the 2015-16 Fufa big League season where Arua based side Onduparaka and Kirinya Jinja SS authoritatively confirmed their promotion to the premier league.
The latter left it late with a win over Wandegeya at Kanyanya and then saw their opponents Proline upset just at the last minute by Kasese New Villa to surrender top spot in Rwenzori Group.
From the promotion and relegation procedure, there is still one more spot available that can be booked by a team that outshine the rest in the playoffs scheduled for Thursday 19th May at Nakivubo and later finals on Sunday.
Lira’s Sporting United that lost 3-0 to Onduparaka on Saturday secured the second spot in the Elgon group table and will therefore face Masavu who finished third in the Rwenzori group.
The game will kick off the play at 1:30 pm on before Proline tussle out with Ndejje University in the second game at 4.30pm
Despite leading their group from match day one, Proline dropped to second on 51 points for that draw in Fort Portal.
On the other hand, the University side overcame Artland Katale 2-1 in their home in Luweero.
The winners of both playoffs fixtures clash on Sunday for the only remaining spot. That match will also act like a curtain raiser for the much awaited Big league final that pits Elgon group winners and their Rwenzori counterparts.
