Gaddafi 1-0 Mbarara City
StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) new entrants for the 2021/22 season, Gaddafi, completed a double over 10-man Mbarara City on Sunday as they headed into the Uganda Cup break with their sixth victory of the campaign.
Defender Andrew Waiswa scored the game’s only goal; a penalty coming in the sixth of the seven injury time minutes for all three points.
The penalty came about after Sheif Batte was fouled in the forbidden area, and the home team’s captain, Wasiswa, had no problem as he easily drilled it home past past goalkeeper Martin Elungat.
Mbarara City’s problems were compounded by losing their skipper Solomon Okwalinga to a red card after two bookable offenses, seeing the visitors play the final 30 minutes of the game with a man down.
Gaddafi’s sixth win of the season takes them above the UPDF in the eighth place with 24 points.
Mbarara City 10th defeat of a dismal campaign, so far, leaves them in the 14th position with 16 points.
