Gaddafi 2-1 BUL

Arua Hill 0-1 Express

BUL missed an opportunity to further stretch their lead at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table after falling to a determined Gaddafi 2-1 in Jinja on Wednesday.

Pilsner Man of the Match Frank Mulimi and Ronald Bithum’s first half goals were enough to fend off the leaders, who got a consolation from Gerrald Ogweti in the second half.

The visitors, BUL, could have actually taken the lead as early as the fifth minute but Joel Madondo had his spot kick saved, and they were made to pay after that.

Victory could have taken BUL eight points clear at the top but the Jinja side just stay ahead of now second-placed Vipers by five on 32 points.

The fifth win in 14 games for Gaddafi was crucial in the soldiers quest for survival as it moved them two places out of relegation to 12th on 16 points.

Up north in Adjumani, Express ground out a hard-fought 1-0 victory over hosts Arua Hill as both sides ended the match with a man fewer.

Emmanuel Wasswa was the match winner for Express on 58 minutes to move the Red Eagles two places up to sixth on 22 points, while Arua Hill stay bottom on five.

Both sets had a man sent off after second bookable offences, with Arua Hill’s Gaddafi Wahab getting marching orders on 77 minutes and Jonathan Aguocha in added time.
