Gaddafi stop Vipers, 10-man Villa pip Maroons

Sunday results

Gaddafi 1-0 Vipers SC

SC Villa 1-0 Maroons

Alex Kitata struck early as Gadaffi ended StarTimes Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC’s five-match winning run on Sunday.

The former SC Villa striker got the goal in the second minute with a long range effort from just outside the 18-yard area at Kakindu Stadium.

Vipers second defeat in 10 matches keeps them in third place on 20 points, missing the chance to go top of the log.

The win lifts Gaddafi to seventh on 15 points from 10 games.

In Lira, 16-time record champions SC Villa returned to winning ways, Patrick Kakande scoring the game’s only goal in the first half.

Kakande beat three players on the left before placing the ball at the near post on 10 minutes.

The game also saw Villa’s Kenneth Ssemakula sent off and Meddie Kibirige save a second half penalty from Fred Amaku

In winning, Villa ended a two-match losing streak to climb to fifth on 17 points, while Maroons, now winless in five games, stay in 11th on 10 points.
