Giants, Busoga and Mbarara City maiden win as league officially returns

Mbarara City, Wakiso Giants and Busoga United all set eyes on first season wins as the league officially returns from a two months break.

The trio are part of the five teams yet to win a league this season and re-engineer the search for the elusive win on Friday at various venues.

In a televised encounter, Mbarara City, 12th on the table with three points host equally hungry Wakiso Giants who are two points and as many positions above them at Kakyeeka.

The previous two meetings have ended in a win for either with the Ankole Lions beating the Purple Sharks 1-0 last season at Bombo.

Kipson Atuheire could make his debut for the visitors on return from stints abroad.

At Green Light stadium, Arua, Onduparaka will hope their marriage with Ababet starts with maximum points against winless Busoga United.

The hosts have strengthened in the January window adding Ramadhan Yakubu and Hakim Magombe to their squad.

They lie 8th on the log with 8 points in five games while Busoga are third from bottom with just one.

Elsewhere, early pace setters Police host Kyetume in a battle of Uganda Cranes assistant coaches Abdallah Mubiru and Livingstone Mbabazi respectively.

Police won the corresponding fixture 1-0 last season courtesy of a late penalty strike by Herman Wasswa.

In the other fixture on Friday, KCCA visit Bul at the Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe.
