High-flying Eagles maul Sharks to go top

Friday results

Express 3-0 Wakiso Giants

Bul 4-1 Myda

Coach Wasswa Bbosa and his Express continued their steady flow in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wakiso Giants at Wankulukuku on Friday.

George Senkaaba and Godfrey Lwesibawa continued their rich vein of form amongst the goals, with Charles Musiige adding the other.

Senkaaba, who netted a brace in the 4-1 win over Myda on Tuesday, opened the scoring on six minutes before Musiige’s strike four minutes later sent Express into a 2-0 half time lead.

Lwesibawa, also scorer against Myda, completed the routine victory with the third on 52 minutes.

Although he was not on the score sheet, Pilsner Man of the Match, Eric Kambale, struck all the right chords in Express’ victory before being replaced by Mustafa Kiragga late in the game.

Victory for Express, their sixth in 10 games, saw them go top of the league for the first time this season on 22 points, just one ahead of champions Vipers, who play this weekend.

In the defeat at Wankulukuku, the Purple Sharks of Wakiso were losing their first match in 10.

They lie 11th with as many points having won just once and drawn the others.

In the East of the country, Bul also had a party, thrashing hapless Myda 4-1 for their third victory in 10 matches.

They are 12th with 10 points, while Myda remain winless and rooted at the bottom of the log with just a single point.

Musa Esenu gave Bul a 16th minute lead but Moses Batali levelled on 45 minutes for a 1-1 half time scoreline.

But the hosts struck quick-fire goals in the last nine minutes of the 90 and a penalty in added time to run away with all three points.

Simon Peter Oketch, Anuar Ntege and
Joseph Ssemujju (P) scored the last flurry of goals. The league continues on Saturday.
