Four teams resume the hunt for their first maximum points in the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) this Friday.

On a day when only two games of match day two are scheduled, former champions Vipers host Bul while rivals Soana and Bright Stars renew their long standing rivalry.

At St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende, Vipers assistant coach Edward Golola says the game against Bul is a must win after faltering against Bright Stars on day one.

“We have to approach the game with a positive mind,” he said after Vipers last training session. “It’s a very important game for us and the target is to pick maximum points,” he added.

Kefa Kisala, the man who was once tipped to be assistant to Portuguese Da Costa at Kitende says his side knows the opponents in and out.

“We know their players, both old and new and that makes it easy to scout on them,” he said. “It’s a tough game against a good side but are capable of picking points off them,” he added.

The hosts still have no Duncan Seninde, Moses Waiswa and Moussa Mbayi through injury but have enough ammunition to choose from.

Tonny Odur is expected to start ahead of young forward Steven Mukwala after he started on the bench against Bright Stars on Tuesday.

       Stat:

  • Vipers have won 6 of the previous 12 league meetings, Bul 2 and the rest have ended in draws.

At Kavumba, Bright Stars start life minus banned coach Fred Kajoba with a game against longtime rivals Soana.

Unlike Soana that lost their first match to SC Villa, Bright Stars earned a point against Vipers despite playing with a man less for over 80 minutes.

Jimmy Kakooza is also out due to the red card but the burden for goalscoring lay on new captain Nelson Senkatuka for the visitors.

Willy Kavuma and Emmanuel Kalyowa are the key men for Shafik Bisaso’s charges.

Stat:

  • Soana have only picked one win in the previous eight league meetings between the two sides, Bright Stars have won 3 and the rest draws.

On Saturday, champions KCCA visit UPDF, SC Villa will be away to log leaders Police, URA visit Kirinya Jinja SS whilst Mbarara City host Express FC.

In other games on Saturday, Proline are at home to new entrants Masavu and in Luzira, Maroons host Onduparaka.
