AUPL Saturday results

Proline 0-1 Masavu

Kirinya-Jinja 1-0 URA

Masavu joined Mbarara City as the two Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) newcomers picked their first victories in topflight football on Saturday.

Mbarara City edged traditional giants Express 1-0 at Kakyeka Stadium, thanks to Pistis Balenge’s 71st minute strike, as Abraham Ndugwa conspired with his Masavu teammates at Lugogo to punish Proline with the same scoreline.

Kirinya-Jinja were also the other side that pulled off an upset of sorts, stopping four-time champions URA 1-0 at Bugembe Stadium.

Isaac Ntege struck the all-important goal as URA, fresh from a 2-1 victory over UPDF midweek, suffered their first defeat of the campaign.

Victory for Masavu has them in eighth place with three points while their day’s victims drop to second from bottom with one.

URA also drop to seventh on three points while Kirinya-Jinja move up to fourth on as many points.
