Esperance 0-1 Al Ahly
KCCA 1-0 Township Rollers
Patrick Kaddu scored his first club international goal as KCCA edged Botswana’s Township Rollers 1-0 at Namboole on Saturday to wind up their home Caf Champions League games on a high.
The result saw KCCA move from bottom of Group A to third on six points, four behind leaders Al Ahly and Esperance of Egypt and Tunisia. Ahly also beat Esperance in Tunis by the same scoreline to upstage them from the top head-to-head.
KCCA bossed good spells of the game with some good plays but it was a fairly balanced affair overall with both sides having a go at each other.
Sadam Juma and Kaddu each hit the woodwork and crossbar in the first half as the two teams fought out a goalless first half.
Then seven minutes into the second half forward Allan Okello had to be in the right place to throw himself into Joel Otlogetswe Mogoros’s strike off a Township counter attack.
But it is KCCA that finally broke the deadlock eight minutes from time, Kaddu capitalising on a goal-mouth melee to stab home Sadam’s free kick for the winner.
Both KCCA and Township Rollers, who remain bottom of the group, go into their final matches against Al Ahly and Esperance on August 28 looking only to finish decently as the Egyptians and Tunisians have already progressed to the quarterfinals.
