Police 0-3 Soana

Soana went third in the log after dispatching Police 3-0 in an Azam Uganda Premier League (UPL) match played at Kavumba, Wakiso District on Tuesday.

Frank Kalanda was the tormentor-in-chief of the policemen, scoring a brace as coach Sam Ssimbwa recorded his third victory since signing for the club. Emmanuel Kalyowa got the other.

The impressive victory has Soana, who parted ways with coach Charles Ayieko on the eve of the season-opener, on 10 points- just two behind leaders KCCA.

Soana’s rise was Police’s downfall. Coach Sam Timbe’s cops had come into this fixture buoyed by their only win so far – a 1-0 away victory to Sadolin – 10 days ago.

Those three points, thanks to veteran striker Anthony Bongole’s goal, had seen Police leave the relegation zone up to ninth on five points. They instead ended Tuesday evening two placers lower in 11th on five points.

Kalanda put the visitors, Soana, ahead on 36 minutes to ensure a 1-0 half time lead. Kalyowa doubled the advantage on 69 minutes before Kalanda completed his brace late on.
