- Vipers 1-0 Bul
Milton Kalisa stabbed his former bosses Bul with the only goal of the game as Vipers clinched their first maximum points of the season.
The former Bul striker rose highest to nod home a ball from Yayo Lutimba corner in a game no side was dominant.
The hosts started better in terms of possession but lacked urgency going forward despite Portuguese Coach Miguel Da Costa starting with Tony Odur and Frank Tumwesigye ‘Zagga’ as part of the changes from the line up against Bright Stars.
The first chance of the game fell to Kalisa midway the game but he slotted over the bar from close range off Zagga cross from the left.
Zagga also had efforts blocked as both goalkeepers weren’t forced to have much to do.
With three minutes to the first half whistle, Vipers won a corner which was headed into the net past a static Bul defence.
After recess, it remained more of the same although the visitors started to press for the leveller.
On the hour mark, they got their best chance through Daniel Shabena who beautiful controlled a low cross from Martin Kivumbi, created space for himself and with only Watenga to beat, shot wide off the mark to the relief of the home team.
That was his last piece of action as Kefa Kisala withdrew him for Lawrence Ndugga who also had opportunities to level put to waste.
At the other end, Da Costa took off crowds’ favourite Zagga for Hassan Kalega and moments after coming on, had a ferocious attempt from over 30 yards which forced a good save from the goalie.
Both coaches made the final changes with Bul bringing on Richard Wandyaka and Hakim Magombe while Steven Mukwala and Pius Wanji were introduced.
But before that, Vipers had a great chance to double the lead but Odur opted to do the difficult by opting to beat the goalie before he set up Kalisa whose first time shot was cleared off the line.
Protests for a penalty were waved by referee Joseph Ochom who gave a corner amidst protests from the players.
The final whistle was cheered by the home team as they move top of the log with four points after two games while Bul drop to 14th with a point.
