Former Express striker Eric Kambale is both excited and relieved that the protracted negotiations between his hitherto club and Sudan’s Al Merreikh are finally over.
The forward completed his move up north on Monday, signing a two-year contract, with reports that he could also be naturalized for eligibility to represent the Sudan national team in future.
“I am happy that I’ve moved to Al Merrick,” said the player, “It’s a dream come true to play professional football. I’m glad this has come to pass,” he said.
This move has been on and off for several months. “I want to thank the Express FC management for making this happen and I also want to thank the fans who have always been there for me. I promise to do my best in Sudan.”
Mike Mutyaba and Jamal Salim are some of the other Uganda Premier League (UPL) stars to have played for Al Merreikh.
At Express, Kambale won the UPL title, Cecafa Kagame Cup and scored over 33 goals in 83 appearances.
