Kasirye wins it late for Vipers

Vipers 1-0 Ndejje

StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) reigning champions Vipers left it very late, needing substitute Davis Kasirye’s 90th minute goal to beat Ndejje 1-0 on Friday.

The league newcomers, Ndejje, had defied all Vipers advances until a lapse in concentration cost them.

This was Kasirye’s first goal for club on the day he debuted since his move from SC Villa in off-season.

The striker, twice capped by the Uganda Cranes, replaced midfielder Frank “Zagga” Tumwesigye after 66 minutes as Vipers Mexican coach Javier Martinez Espinoza looked to break down a resilient Ndejje.

Kasirye then atoned for his early miss from a Duncan  Seninde cross by netting Vipers winner at the refurbished St Mary’s Stadium.
“I’m satisfied  with the performance of my team,” said Vipers Espinoza, “Ndejje were very good in defending but we were fast in transitions.
Ndejje coach Raymond Komakech was proud with his boys effort.
“I’m very proud of the boys because they executed our plan,” he said, “Losing 1-0 to defending champions in added time was a plus for us.
“Our main goal is avoid relegation and going by the players’ mentality that I saw, we can achieve that.”
