Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Cape Town City FC have sealed a deal that sees Ugandan international Allan Kateregga, who has been on loan to KCCA from AFC Leopards, join the South Africans.

Commonly known as “Dancing Rasta”, the dreadlocked left-footed player first impressed Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy during his time at Kenya Premier League (KPL) side AFC Leopards.

McCarthy has since monitored the Ugandan through the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup that was held last year in Kenya, and KCCA.

“I sat with Benni and we discussed the need for a left-footed playmaker & winger that could add something unique going forward,” said Cape Town City owner John Comitis.

“There were a few options for us in the market, but once Benni saw Kateregga play he basically just simply said ‘this is the one’.”

Katerega becomes the second Ugandan player currently in the Absa Premiership after Uganda Cranes goalkeeper and skipper Denis Onyango, who is at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Cape Town City sit second in the PSL table, four points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns after 18 matches.
