Hood Kaweesa’s lone strike was enough for Police to maintain log leadership of the Azam Uganda Premier League (AUPL) as they edged Express 1-0 at Wankulukukuon Tuesday.
The striker’s seventh goal of the season, which has him at the top of scoring charts, moved coach Abdallah Mubiru’s Police to 23 points, one more than KCCA.
Both teams started cautiously but the visitors soon grew more into the game, albeit producing little to change the game in the first half.
But Police soon found a breakthrough, Kaweesa raising highest to nod home a well weighed Juma Balinya cross on 53 minutes.
Express’ best chance fell to Daniel Sserunkuma, whose effort in a goal melee left goalkeeper Douglas Kisembo stranded but an acrobatic volley from Tayimour Kimera saved the day.
