Thirteen -time Ugandan champions, KCCA, completed their fifth off-season signing on Friday when they added Congolese forward Tshisungu Kankonde to their ranks.

The 23-year-old striker, standing at 6.2ft and boasting of great physicality, good aerial prowess, and a reported “fine technique,” has penned a two-year deal.

He joins Moses Waiswa and teenagers Faisal Wabyoona, Saidi Mayanja, and Allan Enyou as the other new signings at the club.

“I am so happy to join a big club like KCCA FC, which is also respected on the continent,” Kankonde is quoted on the KCCA website.

“Back in DRC, this club is known for its great history and when the opportunity to join was presented to me I could not resist.

“I have read so much about the history of this club and I have tasked myself to add value and history to this great club.”

The Congolese added: “I am certain the club and the technical team will push me to my ultimate best and that is exactly what I want to achieve.

“I know some players in the squad like John Revita, who previously played in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and I am sure I will settle in well.

“The coach has already shared with me his expectations and I am looking forward to playing with my new mates.”

Kankonde hails from Kananga province in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has previously played for AS Dauphin Noir de Goma.

He has also played for Congolese sides Etoile Jaune de Bukavu, Union Sportive Tshinkunku de Kananga and Academie Club de Kananga.

The striker won the golden boot at Union Sportive Tshinkunku de Kananga in 2018.

He has also previously won the best player and top scorer award at Academie Club de Kananga in 2017 and 2015 respectively.

At KCCA, Kankonde will be competing for a spot with Sadat Anaku, Brian Aheebwa, Brian Kayanja and Charles Lwanga among others.
